14:00-15:00 Did the end of the world happen in Höfn? Gísli Pálsson, anthropologist and writer, traces the intriguing history of the last vultures. Gísli believes that the stay of the English naturalists John Wolley and Alfred Newton in Höfn in the summer of 1858 laid the foundation for the idea of human-caused extinction of animal species. What would be good about it?

Gísli Pálsson is known, among other things, for his publications on environmental issues and the Arctic, as well as the award-winning book Hans Jónatan: the man who stole himself. In 2020, his book about the Vulture, The Bird That Couldn't Fly, was published. It is expected in English from the beginning of the year (The Last of Its Kind), greatly improved.

16:00-17:30 Concert in Kirkjuvog Church. Menningarfélag Hafna presents the band GÓSS (Sigurður Guðmundsson, Sigríður Thorlacius and Guðmundur Óskar) who celebrate Ljósanót and will have a concert on Sunday September 3rd in Kirkjuvog church in Höfn.
