Hljómahöll has decided to revive the Trúnó concert series, but the concert series has been on hiatus since the pandemic hit.
At a trúno concert in Hjómahöll, visitors get to experience great intimacy with the artists. The concert will take place in Bergi, which can accommodate around 100 guests, but nothing is spared when it comes to sound quality or lighting at the concert. It could even be described as a big concert in a small hall.
The band that plays on the ford should be familiar to the townspeople and all citizens of the country, but it is the great band Valdimar.
The band will perform at two concerts on Wednesday night, August 30 and Thursday night, August 31, during Night of lights, but this will be the first time that the band will perform in the concert series.
At the band's first truno concert, the band will play all the songs from their album Undraland, which was released in 2010. At the band's second concert, the band will cover the album Um sudnar, which was released in 2012.
The house opens at 19:00 and concerts start at 20:00.
Post- war Iceland - a musical journey
The singer- actress Jana Maria takes the audience through the music and the stories behind the cultural influence of the US Army permanently based in Keflavik from 1951. Accompanied by the pianist Vignir Þór Stefánsson, the program consists of songs made popular by Caterina Valente, Frank Sinatra, Elly and Villi Vilhjálms, Burt Bacharach and others.
The cultural influence around the base was inherent, bands had to be formed and singers had to be found, to entertain the US Army - which sparked a new era in the Keflavik music scene.
A warm and intimate evening filled with music & stories. Thursday August 31st 8pm. Tickets at tix.is, ticket price 4300 ISK.
Spoken text between songs will be in Icelandic, but songs both in Icelandic & English.

The exhibition Horfin hús - Horfinn heimur
will have its official opening at the Library on Thursday, August 31st at 5:30

Photographs of historic homes and people in
the neighborhoods where the Library is now can be found in the exhibition;
these images depict a world that has either vanished or is vanishing quickly
into modern times.
It is safe to conclude that the houses
continue to tell a story as long as they stand, and their memory endures in the
photos that have been preserved.

What do
pens, plastic bags, film programmes, party napkins and lighters have in common?
These are
all small objects that have been made with a particular use in mind. When they
have served their purpose, they usually end up in the trash. However, some
people do collect these objects, aiming to have as many and variable as
possible. On display are small items that the Reykjanesbær Heritage Museum has
received, either as private collections or along with other personal
possessions.
One common
factor of these objects is that in past years they were produced in huge
quantities, while today such merchandise is less frequently seen. Many display
company or product logos and were given away for free or were sold cheap. They
offer an opportunity to walk down memory lane and reflect upon how graphics and
logos have changed through time. The oldest objects date to the late 1920s but
the most recent are from the last few years or decades.

The museum's format is built around a timeline of the history of Icelandic music, from the 19th-century classics right up to modern-day superstars like Björk, Of Monsters and Men, Sigur Rós, Kaleo, and many more.
You can dive deeper into the rich musical heritage of this land by making use of the free iPad guided tour, which will really add to your enjoyment of Iceland's cultural history, available in five languages.
A brand-new addition to the museum now offers you an incredible interactive tour of the history of your favorite Icelandic artists.
The "Interactive LP Player" allows you to pick up and play an album that tells the story of famous Icelandic artists, including Björk, Sigur Rós, and Of Monsters and Men and scroll your way through their history on an enormous display wall - you're fully in control of the display here.
As well as that, you can try your hand at singing and playing along with some classic Icelandic hits in the popular “Sound Lab” where electric guitars, an electronic drum kit, and a special karaoke singing booth are waiting for you. You can also have a go at being an audio engineer on a full-sized mixing desk too.
This is a fantastic chance to sing and record your own pop and rock performances on video, to watch and enjoy again and again, or to share on your social media.
There is also a cinema screen that shows several fascinating films and documentaries about Icelandic music on loops all day, including concert films too.
The gift shop offers books, DVDs, CDs, and LPs on Icelandic music, along with other great souvenirs.
Here you can sit down, relax for a while and enjoy listening to the best of Icelandic music and have a cup of coffee, or tea, or hot chocolate - whatever you prefer.
